POLICE CONDEMN UNLAWFUL BLOCKADE OF KEBBI–SOKOTO HIGHWAY, WARNS AGAINST BREACH OF PUBLIC PEACE
The Kebbi State Police Command strongly condemns the repeated blockade of the Kebbi–Sokoto Federal Highway, following the incident of 23 September 2026 and its recurrence today, 9 October 2026, which disrupted vehicular movement for approximately three hours.
The blockade obstructed motorists, persons requiring emergency medical attention, and other members of the public from moving freely and conducting their lawful activities.
The Command considers such conduct unacceptable, as it contravenes traffic regulations and creates opportunities for criminal activities.
The Command urges aggrieved persons to channel their grievances through lawful means, including their elected representatives, traditional rulers, and the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), rather than resorting to the unlawful obstruction of public highways.
The Command warns that any recurrence will attract appropriate legal action, with organisers and participants liable to investigation and prosecution in accordance with the law.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Umar M. Hadejia, psc, MNIM appeals to members of the public to act responsibly, respect the rights of fellow citizens, and refrain from any conduct that disrupts the free movement of persons and goods. Parents and guardians are particularly urged to counsel their children and wards against participating in unlawful assemblies and to impress upon them the importance of respecting the law.
The Command reassures the public of its commitment to maintaining public safety and ensuring the uninterrupted movement of lawful road users.
Henceforth, the Command will not tolerate any blockage of road under any guise.
