OGUN POLICE CONTRAVENE 89 VEHICLES FOR NUMBER PLATE VIOLATIONS, FOIL ARMED ROBBERY, RECOVER STOLEN VEHICLE AND TWO MOTORCYCLES, ARREST SUSPECTS AS CP BODE OJAJUNI STRENGTHENS PREVENTIVE POLICING ACROSS THE STATE

The Ogun State Police Command has recorded another series of operational breakthroughs through sustained intelligence-led, preventive, and community-responsive policing across the State. 

The successes followed the enforcement of the ongoing nationwide directive of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc(+), NPM, against vehicles operating without registration plates or with covered, altered, or obscured registration plates, as well as swift operational responses to armed robbery incidents, leading to the arrest of suspects and the recovery of stolen property.

During the operations, 89 vehicles and their drivers were apprehended for violating the directive. Appropriate administrative and legal actions have been taken against the offenders in accordance with extant laws and established procedures, including prosecution where applicable. 

The Command also recovered one stolen vehicle, two stolen motorcycles, and other exhibits linked to ongoing investigations.

These operational successes underscore the Command's unwavering commitment to proactive and intelligence-driven policing aimed at preventing crime, enhancing public safety, strengthening public confidence, and denying criminal elements the opportunity to operate anywhere within Ogun State.

1. OGUN POLICE COMMAND ENFORCES IGP'S DIRECTIVE ON VEHICLES WITHOUT REGISTRATION PLATES AND COVERED PLATE NUMBERS

In compliance with the directive of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc(+), NPM, the Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, CP Bode Ojajuni, psc, FCSS, MNIPR, directed all Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, and Tactical Commanders to intensify enforcement against vehicles operating without registration plates or with covered, altered, or obscured registration plates.

Consequently, coordinated enforcement operations were simultaneously conducted across the State, resulting in the interception of 89 vehicles and their drivers found operating in violation of the law.

Appropriate administrative and legal actions have been taken against the offenders in accordance with extant laws and established procedures, including prosecution where applicable.

The Command notes that the exercise is a strategic preventive policing initiative designed to improve vehicle traceability, strengthen intelligence gathering, support prompt investigation, and deny criminal elements the anonymity often exploited in the commission of crimes. 

The exercise will be sustained across Ogun State, and all violators will be dealt with in accordance with the law.

2. OGERE DIVISION FOILS ARMED ROBBERY, RECOVERS TWO STOLEN MOTORCYCLES, ARRESTS SUSPECT AT AKURO PHASE I, OGERE REMO

On 3rd July, 2026, operatives of the Ogere Division, acting on credible information and in collaboration with the Ogun State So-Safe Corps, local vigilantes, and members of the community, swiftly responded to an armed robbery incident at Akuro Phase I, Ogere Remo.

The armed hoodlums had invaded a residence and dispossessed occupants of two motorcycles, mobile phones, cash, and other valuables before attempting to flee.

Through coordinated tactical deployment and strategic interception, the operatives forced the suspects to abandon the two stolen motorcycles and escape into a nearby bush.

Subsequent coordinated efforts led to the arrest of one suspect, Abdulsalam Adam, who is currently assisting investigators with useful information. 

The scene was processed, and one knife, one expended cartridge, and one broken padlock were recovered as exhibits.

Efforts have been intensified to apprehend the fleeing members of the gang, while the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Eleweran, for further investigation.

3. AJUWON DIVISION RECOVERS STOLEN VEHICLE, ARRESTS ARMED ROBBERY SUSPECT AT BAALE AKINOSI AREA, AJUWON

On 2nd July, 2026, operatives of the Ajuwon Division responded promptly to a distress call reporting an armed robbery incident at Baale Akinosi Area, Ajuwon, where hoodlums invaded a residence and stole mobile phones, jewellery, power banks, a laptop computer, a Toyota Camry, and other valuables.

The Division's Anti-Crime Team immediately mobilised and launched a coordinated operation. On sighting the Police, the fleeing hoodlums abandoned the stolen vehicle during a hot pursuit and escaped.

One suspect, Israel Salako, was arrested and is currently assisting investigators. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the remaining suspects and recover other stolen property.

The Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, CP Bode Ojajuni, psc, FCSS, MNIPR, commended the officers and men involved in the successful operations for their professionalism, vigilance, prompt response, and dedication to duty.

He reiterated that the Command remains committed to proactive, intelligence-led policing through sustained visibility patrols, strategic stop-and-search operations, prompt response to distress calls, community partnership, and intelligence gathering aimed at preventing crime before it occurs.

The CP urges all motorists to comply fully with vehicle registration requirements and advise members of the public to remain security conscious by boarding commercial vehicles only at designated motor parks and recognised loading points. He further cautioned against patronising unbranded vehicles or private vehicles illegally operating as commercial transport and encouraged residents, whenever practicable, to share vehicle details and travel information with trusted relatives or friends before embarking on journeys.

CP Ojajuni further appealed to residents to continue supporting the Police by providing timely and credible information capable of preventing crime and facilitating prompt operational response. 

He assured the good people of Ogun State that the Command will continue to sustain robust preventive policing strategies and maintain relentless pressure on criminal elements to ensure the safety and security of all residents.
