POLICE ARRESTS 13 SUSPECTS,RESCUE KIDNAP VICTIM,AS COMMISSIONER OF POLICE, KEBBI STATE COMMAND, CP UMAR M. HADEJIA, SPEAKS ON RECENT SECURITY OPERATIONS AND ACHIEVEMENTS OF THE COMMAND
The Commissioner of Police has assured members of the public on the proactive measures and operational successes recorded by the Kebbi State Police Command in its sustained efforts to protect lives and property, prevent crimes, and maintain peace and security across the State.
The Command, in collaboration with sister security agencies, Civilian JTF, vigilante groups, and other critical stakeholders, has continued to employ intelligence-led policing, rapid response, and coordinated operations towards denying criminal elements the opportunity to operate freely.
Within one month, the Command recorded a number of operational successes in the fight against banditry, kidnapping, armed robbery, illegal possession of firearms, and other criminal activities.
These include, but not limited to:-
1. ARREST OF SUSPECTED MAMUDAWA/BOKO HARAM ELEMENTS
On 5th June 2026, at about 1320hrs, Police Mobile operatives at Illo Division, Bagudo LGA, acting on credible intelligence while on patrol along the Illo–Lolo road, intercepted and arrested three suspected members of Mamudawa/Boko Haram elements.
The suspects; Muhammadu Bandi, Aliyu Abubakar, and Muhammadu Abubakar, were arrested on a motorcycle while heading to Lolo Town allegedly to procure food supplies for criminal elements.
Preliminary investigation revealed that these suspects were linked to movements around the area during the attack that claimed the lives of three Federal Road Safety Corps personnel at ILLO on 4th June, 2026. The suspects and the recovered motorcycle exhibit bearing foreign registration number will be prosecuted accordingly.
2. ARREST OF SUSPECTED LAKURAWA BANDITS
On 7th June 2026, at about 1630hrs, Police Mobile Force deployed on special duty along the Ka’oje– Bakin Ruwa road in Bagudo Local Government Area intercepted and arrested four suspects identified as Haruna Abubakar, Abubakar Lawali, Anme Shehu, and Yahaya Shehu.
The suspects are being investigated over their highly suspicious involvement in armed banditry-related activities within SODA forest in Bagudo.
The case is currently being handled by the State Criminal Investigation Department, Birnin Kebbi.
3. ARREST OF LOGISTICS SUPPLIER TO LAKURAWA TERRORISTS
On 9th June 2026, acting on information from some vigilante members of Zazzagawa Village, Argungu LGA, one Murtala Sani of Zazzagawa Village was arrested on suspicion of providing logistical support to suspected Lakurawa terrorists.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect was allegedly involved in supplying foodstuffs and soft drinks to the criminal elements.
He was also observed on several occasions conveying one Amadu Umar, a suspected member of the Lakurawa terrorist group, from Zazzagawa Town to a suspect’s enclave.
The suspect is currently in custody and is assisting the Police with ongoing investigation, to get the other suspects at large arrested.
4. RESCUE OF KIDNAPPED VICTIM AND ARREST OF SUSPECT
On 10th June 2026, at about 0054hrs, a gang of seven armed men invaded the Bayan Forestry Area, Birnin Kebbi metropolis and attacked the house of one Mustafa Musa.
The attackers, armed with firearms, machetes, and sticks, forcefully gained entry into the residence, they stole cash amounting to two hundred and twenty thousand naira (₦220,000), mobile phones, and also kidnapped his wife, Asmau Isah. Following a swift response by Police Operatives, supported by Civilian JTF and vigilantes in the area, the attackers were pursued and intercepted while attempting to escape.
The victim was successfully rescued, while one of the suspects, identified as Abubakar Siddi, was arrested. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend other fleeing members of the gang. Investigation into the incident is ongoing and the case will be charged to court soon.
5. ARREST OF SUSPECTED INFORMANT TO BANDITS AND RECOVERY OF FIREARM
On 11th June 2026, at about 2045hrs, following credible intelligence, Police personnel on special duty at Bakin Ruwa, Bagudo Local Government Area arrested one Ayuba Ibrahim, a resident of Bakin Ruwa, Bagudo Local Government Area.
The suspect is alleged to have been providing support to criminal elements operating within the area. During investigation, operatives recovered from his possession one pump-action rifle, three live cartridges, and a bag containing items suspected to be connected with the criminal activities.
The suspect is currently in custody, while investigation continues.
6. ARREST OF SUSPECT WITH LOCALLY MADE PISTOL
On 11th June 2026, at about 1530hrs, Police operatives from Makera Division, while on routine patrol at Makera Market, arrested one Aliyu Jibrin, aged 42 years, of Kwakware village, Arewa Local Government Area.
A locally made pistol was recovered from him. The suspect is in custody and investigation is ongoing.
7. RECOVERY OF STOLEN VEHICLE THROUGH INTER-COMMAND COOPERATION
The Command also recorded a successful recovery operation involving a stolen Mercedes Benz C200.
Following credible information received through our emergency communication channels, Police operatives in Birnin Kebbi recovered the vehicle at Bayan Kara and arrested one suspect, Ahmed Sa’adu AKA BAGA. Effort is ongoing to apprehend his accomplice, Kasimu Bunza and his cohorts at large.
The vehicle was stolen from a resident of Sokoto State. In line with established inter-command cooperation, the suspect and recovered exhibit have been handed over to the Sokoto State Police Command for continuation of investigation and prosecution.
8. CRIMINAL INTIMIDATION AND DEFILEMENT
On 14/06/2026 at about 1630hrs one Faruku Muhammed M aged 36yrs of Tungar Zabarmawa area Jega, LGA, lured one Naja'atu Surajo F aged 10yrs of the same address in to his room located inside an Islamiyya School where he works as a Security Guard and had sexual intercourse with her by inserting his finger inside her vagina. Case under investigation and will be prosecuted accordingly.
RECENT OPERATIONS AGAINST BANDITRY AND OTHER CRIMINAL ACTIVITIES
The Command has continued to sustain aggressive patrols and tactical deployments across identified flashpoints in the State.
These operations have also led to interventions against bandit activities, including engagements with criminal elements, protection of vulnerable communities, and restoration of confidence among residents.
The successes recorded are products of intelligence gathering, dedication of Police personnel, cooperation with sister security agencies, and the invaluable support of members of the public.
The Command particularly appreciates the contribution of vigilante groups, Civilian JTF, DSS and other security agencies and members of the Public whose timely information continue to assist security operations.
