On 13th April 2026, the Leadership of the Nigeria Police Force, through its Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Anothy Placid, psc (+), mni, held a press briefing at the Force Intelligence Department - IRT Headquarters, Abuja. At this briefing, the results of intelligence-led operations conducted over the previous months were presented.
50 (Fifty) suspects were arrested for terrorism, kidnapping, and armed robbery, and their criminal networks were dismantled.
The recovered weapons highlight the scale of the threat that was averted.
The haul included one anti-aircraft launcher, seventeen rifles of various models, 111 rounds of live ammunition, five walkie-talkie communication devices, nine magazines, and seventeen live cartridges.
These weapons are not associated with petty crime; they are instruments of war that have now been removed from circulation.
Following a thorough investigation, the thirty-three-member gang responsible for the terrorist attack on Christ Apostolic Church in Kwara State has been apprehended and dismantled.
Police have arrested the individuals responsible for the murder of three officers in Taraba State.
Officers dismantled ‘one-chance’ abduction groups, operators of fake police checkpoints, and car burglary syndicates across the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
This outcome exemplifies what Inspector General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc (+), NPM, describes as intelligence-led policing. It is more than a slogan. It is a demonstrated result.
Prosecutions are underway, accomplices are being pursued, and additional weapons are being tracked.
