CP BODE OJAJUNI psc, FCSS, MNIPR, READS THE RIOT ACT IN SAGAMU, WARNS AGAINST UNLAWFUL ASSEMBLY AS “OPERATION KEEP SAGAMU SAFE” RECORDS MAJOR BREAKTHROUGHS: WITH OVER 146 ARRESTED CRIMINALS IN THE NET IN A JOINT SECURITY OPERATION.

The Commissioner of Police wishes to state unequivocally that the Ogun State Police Command will not tolerate any form of unlawful assembly, violent protest, or actions capable of disrupting public peace and order.

While citizens have the right to express grievances, such expressions must be carried out within the ambit of the law.
Any attempt to resort to self-help, obstruction of public roads, or attack on public institutions will be met with the full weight of the law.
On April 7, 2026, the Command responded swiftly to a disturbance caused by a group of commercial motorcycle riders (Okada operators) who unlawfully blocked the Oba Erinwole GRA Road in Sagamu, thereby impeding the movement of innocent citizens.

Their actions, though premised on grievances, were unlawful and unacceptable.

Police operatives promptly dispersed the assembly.
However, the situation escalated as the group mobilized to the Vehicle Inspection Office (VIO) and the TRACE Office in the Sotubo area of Sagamu, and further disrupted activities at the Sotubo Health Centre, thereby affecting essential services.

In a firm and proactive response, the Command intensified intelligence gathering and deployed coordinated joint operations.

This led to the arrest of ten (10) principal suspects directly linked to the incident, who have since been charged to court. Intelligence gathered from these suspects further guided subsequent tactical operations.

In continuation of these efforts, operatives of the Sagamu Area Command, in synergy with sister security agencies and community stakeholders, carried out a comprehensive, intelligence-led raid in the early hours of April 13, 2026, targeting identified criminal flashpoints within Sagamu.

The operation recorded significant success, with a total of one hundred and forty-six (146) suspects arrested.

This joint exercise involved the Nigeria Police Force, the Nigerian Army, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), the Amotekun Corps, the Ogun State Community Security (So-Safe) Corps, and the Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN), demonstrating a unified and coordinated security response.

All suspects are currently undergoing screening, and those found culpable will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Abeokuta, for thorough investigation and prosecution in accordance with the law.

The Commissioner of Police, through this briefing, has read the riot act to all criminal elements and troublemakers within Sagamu and its environs.

The Command is fully prepared, strategically positioned, and operationally equipped to deal decisively with any act of lawlessness.

There will be no hiding place for individuals or groups intent on undermining public peace, as the full force of the law will be brought to bear on offenders.

The Command remains resolute in sustaining the gains recorded under “Operation Keep Sagamu Safe” through proactive, intelligence-led policing and strengthened collaboration with communities and relevant stakeholders.

The Commissioner of Police sincerely appreciates the Sagamu Local Government for its unwavering support, as well as the traditional rulers within the Sagamu axis for their continued cooperation, guidance, and commitment to peace and security.

Their partnership has been instrumental to the successes recorded and remains vital in sustaining a safe and secure environment.

The Commissioner of Police further commends the professionalism, discipline, and synergy displayed by all participating security agencies, noting that such collaboration continues to enhance operational effectiveness and public confidence.

Members of the public are urged to remain law-abiding, vigilant, and cooperative with security agencies. Grievances must be channeled through lawful means, as any deviation will attract appropriate legal consequences.

Citizens are encouraged to report suspicious activities through the Ogun State Police Command emergency lines: Gateway Shield (Toll-Free): 0800 000 9111; Emergency numbers: 0906 283 7609, 0912 014 1706, 0915 102 7369, and 0708 497 2994.
