LAGOS POLICE ARRESTS 30 YEAR OLD SUSPECT WITH LOCALLY FABRICATED PISTOL IN MUSHIN AREA

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a 30-year-old suspect, Dare Shogaolu, popularly known as “Super M,” during a routine stop-and-search operation in the Mushin area of the state, recovering a locally made pistol and other items.
The command said the suspect was apprehended by officers of the Anti-Crime Patrol Team attached to the Mushin Division during a night patrol along the LUTH Road axis.
Police Public Relations Officer of the command, Abimbola Adebisi, confirmed the development in a statement on Thursday, describing the arrest as part of ongoing efforts to curb crime across the state.
“The Lagos State Police Command has recorded another operational success with the arrest of one Dare Shogaolu, ‘m’, aged 30, also known as ‘Super M’, and the recovery of a locally made pistol during a routine stop-and-search operation in the Mushin area of the state,” Adebisi said.
According to her, the suspect was intercepted after officers noticed his suspicious behaviour while he was carrying a white and orange-yellow polythene bag.
“On 5th March 2026 at about 10:00 p.m., operatives of the Anti-Crime Patrol Team of Mushin Division, led by the Divisional Police Officer, while on routine patrol along the LUTH Road axis, Mushin, accosted a suspicious-looking man carrying a white and orange-yellow polythene bag,” she said.
Adebisi explained that a search conducted by the officers led to the recovery of a firearm and other items believed to be linked to criminal activities.
“A search conducted on the bag led to the recovery of one locally made pistol. Other items recovered from him include one black leather purse, charms, and three pairs of slippers,” she stated.
The police spokesperson noted that preliminary investigations suggested the suspect may have been involved in criminal activities in the area.
“Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect has been involved in some criminal activities within the area and has allegedly been responsible for causing disturbances in the community,” Adebisi said.
She added that the suspect remains in custody while investigations continue, noting that efforts are ongoing to track down other members of the alleged criminal group.
“The suspect is currently in police custody while investigation is ongoing. Efforts are also being intensified to apprehend other members of his criminal group,” she added.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police in the state, Olohundare Jimoh, reiterated the command’s resolve to sustain proactive policing strategies aimed at ensuring the safety of residents.
“The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, reiterates the Command’s commitment to proactive policing and the safety of all residents of the state,” the statement said.
The police urged residents to remain vigilant and continue to cooperate with law enforcement agencies by providing timely information that could assist in combating crime across the state
