Ogun State Governor Awards Two Million Naira Each To Ogitechs Top Graduates

OGUN STATE GOVERNOR AWARDS ₦2 MILLION EACH TO OGITECH'S TOP GRADUATES

The Ogun State Institute of Technology, Igbesa (OGITECH) held its 6th Combined Convocation Ceremony on Wednesday 26th February, 2025, at the Prince Dapo Abiodun Twin Theatre Lecture Hall, celebrating academic excellence and outstanding achievements.

Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, CON, represented by his Deputy, Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele, commended OGITECH for its pivotal role in nurturing a skilled workforce that drives industrial growth and economic development in Nigeria.

As part of his administration’s commitment to fostering educational excellence, the governor awarded a monetary reward of ₦2 million each to the three overall best graduating students. He reiterated his dedication to providing high-quality education that meets global standards, emphasizing OGITECH’s significance as a center for academic and technological advancement.

The Rector of OGITECH, Dr. Abiodun Oluseye, highlighted the institution’s rapid growth and accreditation across all programs, reaffirming its status as a leading technical hub in Nigeria. With 9,320 graduates from various disciplines, OGITECH continues to equip students with both academic knowledge and practical skills essential for global competitiveness.

The Chairman of the Governing Council, Chief Kola Sorinola,  represented by Evangelist Kehinde Akinsoji the Acting Chairman Governing Council acknowledged Governor Abiodun’s unwavering support in enhancing the institution’s achievements. He urged graduates to uphold the values instilled in them and to contribute meaningfully to society.

Convocation lecture titled "Technological Education and the Realities of Nigerian Industrial Advancement" was delivered by Prof. Ramon Adisa Bello, who explored the ongoing global industrial revolution and its implications for Nigeria. He stressed the importance of equipping students with relevant technological skills to ensure they thrive in an increasingly digital world.

In his valedictory speech, Ismail Afeez Olamilekan, the overall best graduating student for 2023/2024 academic sessions expressed gratitude for OGITECH’s impact on his personal and academic growth. He encouraged his fellow graduates to remain resilient and focused as they embark on their careers.

The Convocation ceremony also featured the conferment of Honorary Fellowship awards to distinguished personalities, including Mrs. Bamidele Abiodun, wife of the Ogun State Governor, who praised OGITECH for its dedication to nurturing future innovators and leaders.

The Convocation marked yet another landmark in OGITECH’s journey, reinforcing its commitment to academic excellence, innovation, and national development. Other notable Dignitaries from within and outside the institution graced the occasion, adding to the celebratory atmosphere of the day.
