Ogitech Igbesa Holds Graduation Ceremony
The premier ICT polytechnic in Nigeria and Cisco certified academy Ogun State institute of technology igbesa has graduated over Nine Thousand Seven Hundred Students at the combined graduation ceremony of the institution.
The Rector, Dr Abiodun Oluseye , has urged the government at all levels to enhance vocational and technical education to better equip the youth for global industrial challenges.
Speaking at the combined convocation of the Ogun State Institute of Technology (OGITECH), Igbesa, and the awards of the school fellowship to prominent Nigerians he emphasized the need to make technical education more appealing to young Nigerians.
The Deputy Governor of Ogun State (Engr) Noimot Oloyede-Salako emphasized that privileged Nigerians should consistently champion the cause of underprivileged youths and marginalized members of the society.
The Rector of the institution Dr. Biodun Oluseye referred to the First Lady of Ogun State Mrs Bamidele Abiodun, the Minister of Communication, Innovation and Digital Economy Dr Bosun Tijani, Alhaji Ibraheem Egungbogun as philanthropists with a unique and exceptional approach.
He further highlighted that all the recipients of the school Fellowships Awards are well deserving of the honour.
Dr. Oluseye expressed gratitude to all other contributors for their continued commitment to the advancement of the institution.
Highlighting the global shift towards skill-based education, Dr Abiodun Oluseye stressed that prioritizing technical training would empower youths to become self-reliant entrepreneurs rather than depend on white-collar jobs.
“It is only through vocational and technical education that the youth can gain entrepreneurial knowledge to stand and work on their own. Government should make it more enticing; this is the way forward to end youthful restlessness”, he stated.
The Rector thanked the Ogun State government for prioritizing education, particularly the revitalization of technical colleges through rehabilitation and infrastructural upgrades.
He further advocated for the establishment of skill acquisition centers, ensuring graduates acquire hands-on vocational skills in addition to their academic qualifications.
Recognizing the financial constraints in the education sector, Dr Oluseye called on wealthy individuals to adopt schools and contribute meaningfully to their development.
He also urged corporate organizations to support Polytechnics, particularly in funding initiatives like the mass production of OGITECH’s newly unveiled Electric Vehicle – a project that could contribute to Nigeria’s growing economy.
“Government alone cannot fund education. It is a collective responsibility, and those who have the means must step in to make a lasting impact”, he concluded.
