POLICE DEBUNKS VIRAL VIDEO ALLEGING MOVEMENT OF LAKURAWA TERRORISTS INTO OYO STATE

The Oyo State Police Command, following a comprehensive forensic analysis and intelligence-based verification, has confirmed that the viral video alleging the movement of about 300 Lakurawa terrorists into Oyo State is false, misleading, and deliberately crafted to cause fear, panic, and heightened tension among members of the public. Findings from the forensic review revealed that the voice overlay in the circulated video, purportedly credited to one Alhaji Muftau from Kontagora, corresponds with earlier false information previously investigated and debunked by the Command. POLICE DEMOBILISE STOLEN COMPANY 28-SEATER TOYOTA COASTER BUS, FOIL CROSS-BORDER SMUGGLING PLOT, ARREST COMPANY DRIVER AND HIS GUARANTOR AT IDIROKO

Operatives attached to Idiroko Division of the Ogun State Police Command, led by CSP Adejuwon Ariyo, the Divisional Police Officer, have foiled a cross-border vehicle trafficking attempt and arrested two suspects, Seun Lawal ‘M’, aged 46 years, and Ademola Oriyomi ‘M’, aged 38 years, over a conspiracy involving a company driver and his guarantor to smuggle a 28-seater Toyota Coaster bus, earlier declared stolen from Lagos, into the Benin Republic for illegal disposal. The operation was based on credible intelligence received at about 11:00 p.m. on June 12, 2026, indicating that the suspects had positioned the said vehicle at Babaloke area of Idiroko and were preparing to move it across the international border under false pretence. POLICE ARRESTS FIVE SUSPECTED ARMED ROBBERS, RECOVERS FIREARMS, AMMUNITION AND CRIMINAL CHARMS

  The Oyo State Police Command has recorded another significant breakthrough in its sustained efforts to rid the state of criminal elements and ensure the safety of lives and property. On the 12th of June, 2026, at about 0100hrs, operatives of the Command, acting on credible intelligence and in furtherance of ongoing intelligence-led operations against violent crimes, stormed the residence of one Surajudeen Babatunde Adio, popularly known as "Surii Ilupeju", located at Gbeku Area, Olodo, Ibadan. During the operation, five suspected members of a criminal syndicate were apprehended.  The suspects are: 1. Ahmed Nafiu, male, 43 years; 2. Olukunmi Olaniyi, male, 36 years; 3. POLICE RECOVERS HIJACKED TANKER TRUCK ABANDONED BY FLEEING CRIMINALS

The Oyo State Police Command has recorded another significant operational success in its sustained campaign against criminality and its commitment to safeguarding lives and property across the State. Acting on credible intelligence, operatives of the Command recovered a hijacked DAF tanker truck that had been abandoned in the Ile-Igbon area of Oyo State. Preliminary investigations revealed that the vehicle had remained unattended for several days. Intelligence further suggests that the criminal elements who had unlawfully taken possession of the truck abandoned it upon realizing that security operatives were actively tracking their movement.  Unable to retain possession of the vehicle in the face of heightened police pressure and intelligence-led operations, the suspects fled the area in an apparent attempt to evade arrest, leaving the truck behind. POLICE INVESTIGATE DEATH OF STUDENT IN KALGO LGA

The Kebbi State Police Command is investigating the death of Zaharadden Nuhu, a 300-level student of the Federal University Birnin Kebbi (FUBK).  The incident occurred in the early hours of 11th June 2026 within a private compound in Kalgo Local Government Area.  The compound is predominantly occupied by students but is not a university-owned hostel facility. Preliminary investigation revealed that the victim was found with injuries and was immediately rushed to the Federal Medical Centre, Birnin Kebbi, where he unfortunately passed away while receiving treatment.  The assailant is yet to be identified. Following the report, a team of police officers visited the scene, secured the area, and commenced investigation to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident and apprehend the person(s) responsible.
